AGV50 by Zetapack (Italy)

New technology for weighing delicate vegetables

Zetapack has had a particularly positive last few months. The company installed five systems in five different Italian warehouses. Nicola Antonacci, owner of the Cesena-based company in the Emilia-Romagna region, explains, "Thanks to AGV50 technology, we can now weigh vegetables. We focus on the processing of vegetables that present challenges for standard automation technologies, such as courgettes with flowers, white courgettes, Sweet Palermo peppers, and cherry tomatoes, as well as less delicate products like salad tomatoes and aubergines."

The five new plants are located in Veneto, Tuscany, Lazio, and Sicily, and they are already operating within several processing lines. In the coming months, Zetapack will deliver and install two more plants in Emilia-Romagna and one in Tuscany.

"The process is very simple, as shown in the video," Antoniacci continues. One or two operators at the beginning of the line will randomly pre-fill the baskets. Then, the pack passes over a checkweigher that interacts with the 18-scale weigher to find the optimal combination. The 18-scale system stands out from other solutions on the market by offering customers more combinations, resulting in enhanced weight accuracy for each pack. Another noteworthy feature is the gentle discharge on a wave belt, which is specially designed to prevent product damage."

Measuring 5.20 meters in length and one meter in width, the machine body can be positioned in smaller warehouses or connected to existing installations.

Antonacci concludes, "We will be at the next trade fair, Fruit Attraction, in Madrid from 30 September to 2 October, where we will exhibit this versatile and innovative technology. We recommend visiting our stand in Hall 10F27A, where we can explain all the latest updates."
