On the 5th of June, growers and industry professionals gathered in Almería for an insightful session focused on optimizing climate control inside greenhouses. The event, hosted by CIT Coexphal, highlighted the benefits of Phormium climate screens, bringing together technical expertise and grower experience to showcase the potential of these innovative solutions.
The day started with a technical presentation by Dr. Esteban Baeza, greenhouse climate specialist, who detailed how climate screens – and particularly Phormium ones- contribute to energy savings, improve crop quality and better control both humidity and temperature inside Mediterranean greenhouses.
"Phormium screens stand out not only for their durability, but also for their precise climate modulation," said Dr. Baeza, "they help maintain the delicate balance between radiation, humidity, and ventilation—key to optimal plant growth."

Attendees also had the opportunity to hear firsthand from Agrosol, a local well-known grower, who is using Phormium screens in their newest Canary-type greenhouses (the so called "invernaderos de raspa y amagado"). Francisco Iglesias and Jorge Juzgado, young growers from Agrosol, shared their experience, explaining how the installation has improved their greenhouse conditions, leading to more stable climate control and healthier crops.
"We saw a noticeable difference in our ability to manage the microclimate," noted Jorge Juzgado. "The screen gives us better flexibility throughout the day and across seasons. It's now a key part of our production strategy."
"Phormium, known for its strong, high-quality screens, which are tailored to various crop and climate needs, has been expanding its presence in the Spanish greenhouse market" highlighted Marta Gentile, Phormium sales manager for Spain and LATAM. "The success of the event in Almería further underlined our company commitment to support growers and work closely with technical institutions to adapt climate technology to local conditions", she concluded.

As climate conditions become more unpredictable and energy costs are expected to continue to rise, tools like Phormium climate screens offer practical solutions for sustainable and profitable greenhouse production.
The session concluded with a round of questions and open discussion, emphasizing the growing interest in climate screens as essential tools in modern horticulture.
