Azud's latest project:

"Innovating tomato farming in Almeria"

In the heart of Almeria lies a tomato farm spanning several hectares that faced a twofold challenge with its tomato production: frequent pipe blockages and uneven irrigation. Compounding these issues was the low-quality water sourceā€”an embankment with high organic content- leading to frequent clogs in the irrigation emitters, resulting in uneven watering and reduced productivity.

To address these pressing challenges, the farm turned to Azud, whose intervention brought forth an innovative solution that would transform the way tomatoes were cultivated on this Almeria farm.

The best solution for precision drip irrigation
The centerpiece of this transformation was the installation of irrigation pipes equipped with Azud Geniun PC emitters boasting integrated self-compensation technology, anti-clogging mechanisms, a self-cleaning labyrinth, and an extended lifespan. Complementing this emitter technology, the farm also embraced the Azud Helix System, a disc filtration system renowned for its ability to deliver 130-micron filtration and a robust flow rate of 20 cubic meters per hectare.

Together, these components formed a comprehensive solution to the farm's irrigation woes, offering precise control, reduced maintenance, and improved performance.

Greater profitability with reduced costs
The implementation of Azud's solution yielded a range of benefits. The uniform irrigation ensured consistent distribution of water and nutrients throughout the crop, enabling the development of a proper irrigation and fertilization schedule.

Azud's patented DS Technology, which is present in the emitters, was designed to prevent clogs and ensure continuous, trouble-free emitter performance. The solution significantly reduced maintenance costs by minimizing obstructions and associated problems.

Improved irrigation efficiency and reduced obstructions resulted in more efficient water and energy use. Moreover, consistent irrigation and proper nutrition contributed to higher-quality and more nutritious tomatoes. Ultimately, this solution led to greater farm profitability by enhancing production and reducing operational expenses.

As this tomato producer demonstrates, innovation and smart technology solutions, like those provided by Azud, are essential in modern agriculture. By addressing challenges such as water quality and uniform irrigation, these advancements play a pivotal role in shaping the future of greenhouse farming.
