"The American and Canadian markets are very interesting for us, and we are noticing an increasing international demand for our solutions," says Jeroen de Wit, International Sales Manager Horticulture at Van der Ende Groep. Around three years ago, the Dutch company started making international strides, now promoting the benefits of their solutions to growers outside of the Netherlands. "Clean water is scarce around the world. With our water filtration techniques, we are helping growers to clean and reuse their water."

"Water is the new gold"
De Wit explains that there is an international need among growers to save water and energy. "Especially the American and Canadian markets are very interesting. Not only do some regions have a similar climate to the Netherlands, but it is also a vastly growing market. In those international markets, people are becoming more and more aware of the benefits of local production. As a result, the demand for our solutions has been rising internationally."
According to De Wit, water could be considered the new gold of the world due to its scarcity. This scarcity is a worldwide issue. Therefore, concerning the grower's irrigation water, there are several solutions that Van der Ende Groep provides. These solutions facilitate the cleaning and reusing of water among growers.
"The Kathari system, our newest addition, uses ultrafiltration to remove pathogens from drain water, such as viruses, bacteria, and fungi. This filtration ensures that the grower can safely reuse the drain water. Our Poseidon system extracts sodium so that the drain water can be reused for longer and nutrients are retained. And the Nexus High-Performance RO is a reverse osmosis system that removes ballast substances and achieves higher efficiency than a normal reverse osmosis system. We also developed our own self-learning artificial intelligence software that enables a more efficient and sustainable operation of the system."
Creating an even climate
Of course, water is not the only challenge greenhouse growers have to deal with. Light emission from greenhouses is becoming more of an issue. As a result, the shades have to be closed for longer. However, by doing so, the temperature and humidity inside the greenhouse will increase.
"Our Airmix systems allow controlled ventilation and dehumidification of the greenhouse air in order to achieve an optimum greenhouse climate while being able to keep the screens closed for longer. Models T and G mix the air above the screen, which is colder and drier, with warmer humid air in the greenhouse. The new Airmix X-AIR model can also take air from outside into the greenhouse."
Van der Ende Groep supplies its products through installers and greenhouse builders. Over time, the company did notice a need among growers for some extra help. "Growers were asking for more advice when it comes to water filtration and climate. Therefore, personalized advice is an important service that we offer. If there are ever any issues or questions along the grower's use of our systems, we are ready to help."
