Take advantage of air above the screen to regulate humidity

Elektravon recently installed the Airmix ventilation/circulation system at a 5,200 m² propagation nursery in Holland with double screens. When the valves are completely opened, the 9 Airmix units have a ventilation capacity of 45,000 m³/h (8 m³/m²/h). When the valves are closed, the system works as a regular horizontal circulation system.

Dutch grower Leo Valstar (LV Plant): “I’ve been looking for a while to improve the climate in the greenhouse. When applying the Next Generation Growing, it is important to regulate the air circulation and ventilation with closed screens. We’ve looked at ventilation units, but for older greenhouses this is too much of an investment. I chose the Airmix because of its simplicity. The system makes it possible to regulate the desired humidity when the screens are closed and to draw in cool air from above the screens during the summer to lower the temperature in the greenhouse. We now need to get to know the system with all of its possibilities to make it work for us, but I am confident that it will go well. Because we are applying the Airmix in only one area of the greenhouse, we can compare it well to the other areas without Airmix.”

LV Plant has a total area of 3.3 ha and grows vegetable plants such as tomatoes, eggplants and peppers during the winter months . During the spring and summer, they are growing pot plants such as chrysanthemum, aster, celosia, dahlia and streptocarpus.
