US (AZ): Illumitex to educate in UA-CEAC workshop

Illumitex will be taking part in the 2016 Greenhouse Crop Production & Engineering Design Short Course in Tucson, AZ. This week long course, held from March 20 – March 25, will aim to help attendees successfully grow crops within controlled environments and ensure those crops thrive and are marketable. This workshop is sponsored and held by the CEAC (Controlled Environment Agriculture Center) of the University of Arizona.

Representing Illumitex will be Director of R&D, Dr. Rebecca Knight, who will be giving a workshop over “LED Lighting for Controlled Environment Agriculture.” Joining her will be Horticulture Sales Manager of Vertical Farming/Turn-Key Solutions Paul Hardej, who will be speaking on “Getting Started on Urban Farming.”

With over 30 expert speakers in Controlled Environment Agriculture, participants will be in both workshops and hands-on application settings. The on-site course also includes an exhibitor room where discussions can be held with industry experts about their projects, as well as multiple industry presentations. As a new addition to the 2016 course, there will also be specific half-day sessions on “Indoor Growing” and “Lighting for Growing Crops in CEA.”

Sunday, March 20th is course registration and Welcome Reception. March 21 - 23 features 3 full days of in class lectures on a variety of topics. March 24th is hands-on workshop day where participants will leave the classroom setting for a day of workshops and tours on the CEAC campus, ending with an optional commercial greenhouse tour on March 25th.
