Mexico: Photo report Expo AgroAlimentaria Guanajuato 2014

Last week the 19th edition of the Expo AgroAlimentaria took place in Mexico. The event, held in Irapuato, 330 kilometres North of Mexico City, attracted 97,000 visitors and was the place to become acquainted with Mexico's thriving agro and horticultural industry. Also HortiDaily.com was present to speak with growers, suppliers and other professionals of the Mexican greenhouse sector. In the coming weeks you can find several articles on Mexican horticulture. As well as this we made a complete photo report of the show.

The quality of exhibitors and the level of supplies and innovations at the show was impressive. This is a direct result of the fact that Mexico is an important player in the field of food production for the North American market. North American greenhouse growers are sourcing Mexican greenhouse produce to provide their customers year round. Due to the fact that the US and Canadian retailers demand the same high quality produce from Mexico, the Mexican greenhouse growers have improved their production methods significantly and the growers are able to produce top quality fruits. This definitely contributes to the success of the expo for the horticulture industry.

Starting materials

Besides many greenhouse supplies and structures, also a large number of starting material was on display. The numerous variety trials that were on display in both low, mid and high tech settings, made the show a must attend event for the growers to see the latest innovations and seed breeds.

For us, the trials are always a unique opportunity to meet the breeders and discuss their latests work. In the coming weeks we will share several articles with the latest information on breeding programs for the Mexican greenhouse industry.
