Pepper grower Liesbeth Lambrecht is pleased with her decision to switch to the yellow variety Yedda. This variety produces large, beautifully blocky fruits and yields a high quantity with rapid color development, fully meeting her expectations. "And it's a stunning sight," she added.
Liesbeth Lambrecht is confidently anticipating the summer. "We have a robust crop with a beautiful canopy, which means we'll need to screen less frequently to maintain quality." Last winter, Lambrecht switched to the yellow pepper variety Yedda, a decision made after careful consideration. "With our previous variety, we often encountered issues in July, such as internal rot and reduced coarseness. I observed Yedda's performance with colleagues over two years and noticed its consistent fruit set and good coarseness. It's also resistant to internal rot, which are crucial traits I witnessed firsthand." Lambrecht also consulted her Syngenta representative, who provided production data from other growers, making it a well-considered decision.

After several months of harvesting, Lambrecht observes that Yedda's greenhouse crops are thriving. "The plants produce impressive fruits, weighing about 250 grams each. The red variety currently weighs around 225 grams. It's common to achieve harvest yields of 2 to 3 kilos per square meter. I believe we can maintain this consistency through the summer." The fruit quality also meets her standards. "This was my main reason for choosing them, and I'm pleased to see it paying off. We have found very little rot."
Thanks to Yedda's stable fruit weight and attractive blocky shape, Lambrecht finds it to be an easy variety to pack. "Over 80% of the fruits meet the desired diameter. Plus, they are easy to harvest."
Overall, Lambrecht feels positive about her first months of growing Yedda. She closely monitors the crop to plan for peak harvest times effectively. Every two weeks, she reviews the cultivation process with her supervisor from Delphy. "You have to stay vigilant," she concludes, "because cultivation is like a high-level sport."
