Spain imported €18 million worth of courgettes in the 2023/2024 season

In the 2023/2024 season, Spain imported a record 16.32 million kilos of courgettes for 18.05 million euros, according to calculations by the Spanish news service Hortoinfo based on data from the statistics service Estacom.

Morocco was Spain's main supplier, with 10.75 million kilos (65.90% of the total) worth 11.59 million euros, at an average price of 1.08 euros per kilo. Imports from Morocco have increased by 46.9% over the past ten seasons.

Portugal was Spain's second-largest courgette supplier with 4.09 million kilos, equivalent to 25.04% of the total, worth 4.29 million euros and an average price of 1.05 euros per kilo.

Germany ranked third with 780,362 kilos (4.78% of the total) worth 1.05 million euros and at an average price of 1.34 euros per kilo.

France ranked fourth with 301,762 kilos and an average price of 1.6 euros, and Italy ranked fifth with 158,627 kilos and 0.97 euros per kilo.
