Open Day in Campohermoso, Níjar:

Gavilán, the first tomato from GapGen Seeds with resistance to the rugose virus

Sustainable agriculture enthusiasts and those passionate about excellence in cherry tomato cultivation have been invited to a unique open day. The Almeria-based seed breeder CapGen Seeds is hosting an open day to showcase the Gavilán, a plum cherry tomato that combines an exceptional flavor with high disease resistance and great production, helping consolidate the company's strong commitment to sustainability.

The open day has been scheduled for April 10 and is taking place at the farm of Francisco Jesús Ferre Gómez, located near the town of Campohermoso, in the eastern Almería region. During the event, attendees will have the opportunity to learn firsthand about the production and appreciate the qualities of the Gavilán plum cherry tomato.

The Gavilán stands out not only for its exceptional taste but also for its comprehensive resistance package, which makes it ideal for organic cultivation. Its resistance to the Tomato Brown Rugose Fruit Virus (ToBRFV) makes it particularly valuable in adverse conditions, ensuring a stable and quality harvest even in challenging environments.

As a preview for the Open Day, CapGen Seeds has prepared a video presentation of their innovative Gavilán plum cherry tomato variety. In this video, you can get a close look at Gavilán's unique characteristics, from its delicious taste to its resistance to diseases and spectacular appearance. Click here to watch the video.

For those unfamiliar with it, the date-shaped Gavilán tomato has an average weight of 10-15 grams and offers a perfect balance between sweetness and firmness, making it a versatile option for salads, appetizers, and gourmet dishes. Its vibrant red color and spectacular shine make it irresistible to any food lover.
