Last week, the 14th edition of the horticultural exhibition "Flowers. Fazenda. Greenhouses. Almaty" took place at the Atakent International Exhibition Center in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Several international exhibitors were present to show their solutions to the Kazakhstan market.
In addition to the Dutch pavilion, also a remarkable number of Chinese suppliers were present at the trade show. Overall, the tradeshow was a bit smaller than last year, which can be explained by the overall slowdown of enthusiasm for tradeshows, as many suppliers chose to be present every second year and the struggles Kazakhstan growers are dealing with. The Kazakhstan market has been named promising for quite some years now, but growers also struggle with difficulties to make their business profitable.
An important part of the tradeshow was the forum Plant Production of Kazakhstan, during which the challenges of the industry were also discussed by several international suppliers. Hygiene was one of the most important topics during the second day of the show side program: either inside a greenhouse, in the irrigation system, or in soil.
In answer to the profitability of the growers, on the second day of the show, also a Kazakh-Dutch round table was organized on Greenhouse Industry Profitability, during which several suppliers presented their solutions like the Kubo Smart Growing concept, climate control by Hoogendoorn, and Van der Hoeven greenhouse projects. Also partners from Kazakhstan itself shared their experiences, during what the use of techniques only when necessary played a central role.
