Thousands of BeNomic Star pipe rail trolleys from Berg are in operation worldwide. Their customers use these in various types of greenhouses. The BeNomic Star is Berg's best-selling pipe rail trolley. And there's a story behind that. Colleagues at Berg have been working on the development of the pipe rail trolley for years. It's high time to let them speak about their pride in Berg Hortimotive.

40 years
This year marks Leo de Jong's 40th year at Berg. Alongside founder Arie van den Berg, he was instrumental in the creation of the first electronic pipe rail trolley, the precursor to today's BeNomic Star. Leo started at Berg as a gardener/mechanic. In the mornings, they would pick tomatoes, as it wasn't yet very busy with the production of pipe rail trolleys. Responding to market demands, Arie and Leo continually developed the pipe rail trolley further, which eventually became the foundation of the BeNomic Star. For him, this trolley is the king because it is a very solid trolley, made according to the customer's wishes. "And that orange color, that makes it extra 'royal'," says Leo.

Leo is now a technical engineer at Berg, where he primarily assembles the BeMatic spraying trolleys and the BeMotion harvesting and transport solutions. Leo is still frequently consulted about the pipe rail trolley; his colleagues always know where to find him. "I see my contribution in the development of the pipe rail trolley in the evolution from a trolley without a step to a trolley with an auction crate on top, and from manual shears to hydraulic shears, to the BeNomic Star as it is today," a proud Leo shares in the film below. "It's important to keep listening to our customers." Leo believes that in the future, the buttons on the machines will disappear, and people will control the various machines, including the pipe rail trolley, with an app on their phones.

Jeroen started at Berg as a student and has thus been with Berg for a long time. He is now involved in the further development of the BeNomic Star within Berg. His very first position was in the electrical department, where he helped build the first pipe rail trolleys. Jeroen has been working at Berg for over 32 years with great pleasure and has witnessed the development of almost all products in the portfolio.
The development of the pipe rail trolleys consists of three phases. "We first conceived the product, then we design and develop it. Then, we make a calculation, which is always checked by a second external party. Finally, we conduct extensive durability tests on our products to see if they can last a lifetime," says Jeroen.
